Trade fair recount!!!

WALT: use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
Your never too young for your own bank account. How do I know well because I have my own account right here at school that I use nearly everyday. Our school topic is trade and enterprise and enterprise meaning complicated projects and trade meaning buying or selling goods or services means that for this term we are basically learning about making and creating our own businesses in school. In team 4 we had our own trade fair and I'm going to tell you more about it after in this writing.

The year 5 and 6 students at Pt England school have their own bank account to collect their chosen currency pt’s and pieces. Pt’s meaning dollars and pieces meaning cents is exactly like New Zealand dollars and cents. We have the currency of 1pt, 2pt, 20 pieces and 50 pieces these are all equal to double the amount. For example: 1pt and 2pt is equal to 2 dollars and 4 dollars it is basically just doubled.

The year five and six students had a trade fair and this is how it started. In the trade fair there are six businesses home ware, kitchen, toys, instruments, jewellery/accessories and custom stationery. We had to take a form to decide which group we were in I decided to join in the kitchen group but was told that there was too many people in this group so my second choice was jewellery and accessories. We had to get into smaller groups and decide what our products we're going to be we chose loom band keyring and loom band bracelets.

The trade fair had started and customers from different businesses started rushing in from everywhere orders went flying and the money started coming in. Orders from customers started rushing and all I could think about was how rich I was going to be. Soon enough all our order sheets had ran out and we had to start writing in orders on our Chromebook. Soon the trade fair was over and we had to stop making orders it was nearly time to go home. I had a great time at the trade fair and my experience was great.I was quite impressed with the amount of orders that we got and the money that flowed in.

I just can’t wait till week 8 when the actual market was going to come up. All the money that we will have at the market. I might just need servants to help me hold my money.

Learning to use Auxiliary words- Command

WALT: We are learning about auxiliary verbs and using them in sentences.

Today we are focusing on learning about Auxiliary Verbs. I learnt how to use them in sentences but first we had to choose a verb and then we had to use the auxiliary word and put them both into 1 sentence. I chose commanding because it is a very hard thing to do sometimes and because it is a very powerful word. Here is my presentation to show what I did.

Best yet chocolate made by Whittaker's

WALT: Use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
__________________________________________________________
I love the Whittaker's L&P chocolate so much that if I could eat in my sleep I would definitely eat this.

The Whittaker’s L&P chocolate is made with little popping candy like crystals that are coloured and flavoured as L&P. The crystals are mixed with very fine white chocolate made by Whittaker’s and shaped as ordinary chocolate but has an indent with the chocolate label Whittaker’s. They are king sized and can be brought from Count down and Pak’n Save for only 4:30.

Just one glimpse at the Whittaker’s L&P chocolate and it already caught my eye. The look of the white smooth chocolate and the shiny L&P sugar crystals shining through the chocolate like the sun on the blue ocean sea. One sniff and I could already smell the L&P flavour drifting up my nose making my mouth water like a baby that dribbles everyday. Peeling the wrapper off, I just couldn't wait to take a big bite. Breaking off a piece, just touching the chocolate I already knew that it was going to be good. A little tiny nibble and it felt as if a grenade of delightful tastes had just exploded in my mouth.

One thing that could have improved this chocolate was that there was more L&P flavour than the actual white chocolate. All you can taste is L&P with a pince of the chocolate it does still give flavour but not enough for me. I think that the L&P flavour took over the whole chocolate but it was still delicious. I think that this is the best chocolate yet for Whittaker’s.

Overall I think that this L&P Whittaker’s chocolate is fantastic. I would recommend this chocolate to any chocolate Whittaker’s lover, because it gives a good taste and you can tell even from not looking at the brand you can tell that it is a Whittaker’s chocolate.

Maths Teacher Lesson- Week 1

This is the protractors practice lesson. In this lesson we learnt how to add and subtract decimals. Watch to see what we do.

Maths Problem Solving- Week 4

This week our problem solving has been around decimals. We had to get into partners or in three. We then answered the problems. I have found this week a little harder to get my hear around. I find that I am still working in whole numbers and get the answers wrong. What has been a help is thinking of decimals as money - dollars and cents.

This week in reading we have been learning about how to think critically about  what we read. In this task we had to write an advice blog to a person (James Abel) about choosing a wristband that would be good for him to choose for his fitness and his health. I also had to give him advice in how to make his own choices when buying another item. So here is my presentation about the advice I gave James Abel.

Dear teachers,

The reason i’m applying for this job is because I can be a trustworthy person towards telling the truth. I'm also very good at adding and subtracting from out of your bank.

I want this job real bad because it would give me a good chance to learn more maths with adding and subtracting with decimals. I'm also very organised at working with others even with boys. So PICK ME!
PS: Just remember I did warn you and if you don’t well your making a big mistake.

Yours Sincerely,

Letter of reference ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My child vonne is a very trustworthy person she can be a very responsible person at times and she does really concentrate on her work. She can be trusted to be on time and to be available every day when needed.

I believe my daughter should be a bank teller because she can do very good at adding and subtracting Pts and pieces. She can also be trusted when told to do things. She has an awesome personality and she is never sassy.

Hiring beanbags

WALT: persuade the reader to agree with our message.

Don’t you just hate it when you have to sit on the cold hard uncomfortable floor. Well then why don’t you try hiring one of our relaxing bean bags.

During class while others are sitting on the hard floor you’ll be able to hire a comfortable bean bag. At only 3pt don’t you think it’s a great deal? and for the whole day even! You’ll be able lean on them, sit on them, sleep on them. How better do you think it’s going to get?

These bean bags are filled with soft mushy polystyrene beans and covered in a leather and rubber like skin. If you don’t like the shape of it then you can mould it to your positioned choice. You have many choices on what to decide you want to do with these particular bean bags. This type gives you options about what you can do to them. Other types are made to stay in one particular spot which can sometimes be uncomfortable.

The bean bags come in two different colours. A blue one like the colour of the beautiful vast sky and a green lime colour that looks like the green grass and plants on this planet. These are the only two colours that we have but it’s entirely up to you choice which one you want to sit on.

At only 3pt to hire a bean bag don’t you think our deals great. Once you have hired a bean bag you’ll have to pay at the beginning of the day and then you can use the beanbag for the rest of the day.

Remember for 3pt you can sit at a beanbag during class all day.

We had to imagine us being in the story like imagine that it was us reading the poster, wanting a job. We had to write a paragraph for the reader to tell them about the bad and good parts of this job.
