Camp Benzton Year 6 Camp

WALT: Summarise a week long experience into a recount.
------------------------------------------------------Home, Finally home. A long week of exercise, eating with a fork and knife and big spiders. Ahh I’m exhausted. What I experienced at the year 6 school camp, You would never in a million YEARS expect to happen. Really I mean Really!

Energetically with loud voices we shouted. Ara toku tu enganuru nei, the Year 6’s pulled up in the Ferry we all sang our school haka. As we got closer and closer to the Kawau Island Camp Benzton's Wharf we all tiredly ended the haka with a round of applause. Racing to the ferry’s door we all hurried wanting to get out first. Lining Up beside the door, taking deep breaths thinking Can I do this?

We settled in and got our beds ready. After a while we got to have free time, lunch and then more free time and finally dinner. We then went to sleep. The next morning we we for our fitness run and then we had breakfast. Our rotations then started. Kayaking was one of my favourite activities. We got to kayak under three wharfs to stingray bay. Unfortunately we didn’t see any. With annoyance we had to kayak all the way back without seeing stingrays and I must say that my hands got really tired. I arrived first at the beach and that was the good thing.

My next favourite activity was the Confident course. As a leader I got to see my team work hard and try their best to accomplish the activities. There were sometimes when my team felt like they couldn’t do it anymore but they tried their best and achieved their goals. This was an activity that influenced my team to try their best at what they were doing.  Why this was one of my favourite activities was because we were Mr Jacobsen’s 100th team to do the confident course with him.

The year 6 camp was inspiring and fun. I enjoyed every single moment of the camp with my team. All the teachers and parent helpers did a great job it just wouldn't be the same without them. Camp was awesome and I didn’t really want to come back to Glen Innes. I’m home and all I can say is that Camp Bentzon was fun and to all the year sixes going in the future to just have a great time and enjoy the time on the island while you can.

The Pt England School Production, Cindy In da House

Reflection
==========
The Pt England School Production, Cindy in da house was AWESOME. Acting, dancing, singing this production just couldn't get any better. I thought that the story had been acted out absolutely superb and the dancers and everyone performed really well. I really enjoyed the singing "It's a hard knock life for ME" It was sung amazingly.

The acting was done to perfection and I really felt like it was a Cinderella Story. I really enjoyed the Pt England School Production and I bet that all the parents and viewers loved it too.

Review
==========
A famous fairy tale story told by Pt England School just like the original Cinderella Glass Slipper story, had been acted out, written again and changed around a bit to a G.I styles play. Where a girl called Cindy meets a handsome boy Josh, head boy and rugby captain. They both meet at the Prefects ball and like in the real story when the clock strikes, Cindy in a hurry rushes away leaving a Flower Sandal behind.

This wonderful production, Cindy In da house, took place at Pt England School. I would rate the school production a 5 out of 5.

So that's my highlight. Have a GREAT holiday.

Trade fair recount!!!

WALT: use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
Your never too young for your own bank account. How do I know well because I have my own account right here at school that I use nearly everyday. Our school topic is trade and enterprise and enterprise meaning complicated projects and trade meaning buying or selling goods or services means that for this term we are basically learning about making and creating our own businesses in school. In team 4 we had our own trade fair and I'm going to tell you more about it after in this writing.

The year 5 and 6 students at Pt England school have their own bank account to collect their chosen currency pt’s and pieces. Pt’s meaning dollars and pieces meaning cents is exactly like New Zealand dollars and cents. We have the currency of 1pt, 2pt, 20 pieces and 50 pieces these are all equal to double the amount. For example: 1pt and 2pt is equal to 2 dollars and 4 dollars it is basically just doubled.

The year five and six students had a trade fair and this is how it started. In the trade fair there are six businesses home ware, kitchen, toys, instruments, jewellery/accessories and custom stationery. We had to take a form to decide which group we were in I decided to join in the kitchen group but was told that there was too many people in this group so my second choice was jewellery and accessories. We had to get into smaller groups and decide what our products we're going to be we chose loom band keyring and loom band bracelets.

The trade fair had started and customers from different businesses started rushing in from everywhere orders went flying and the money started coming in. Orders from customers started rushing and all I could think about was how rich I was going to be. Soon enough all our order sheets had ran out and we had to start writing in orders on our Chromebook. Soon the trade fair was over and we had to stop making orders it was nearly time to go home. I had a great time at the trade fair and my experience was great.I was quite impressed with the amount of orders that we got and the money that flowed in.

I just can’t wait till week 8 when the actual market was going to come up. All the money that we will have at the market. I might just need servants to help me hold my money.

Learning to use Auxiliary words- Command

WALT: We are learning about auxiliary verbs and using them in sentences.

Today we are focusing on learning about Auxiliary Verbs. I learnt how to use them in sentences but first we had to choose a verb and then we had to use the auxiliary word and put them both into 1 sentence. I chose commanding because it is a very hard thing to do sometimes and because it is a very powerful word. Here is my presentation to show what I did.

Best yet chocolate made by Whittaker's

WALT: Use language that paints a picture in the mind of our reader.
__________________________________________________________
I love the Whittaker's L&P chocolate so much that if I could eat in my sleep I would definitely eat this.

The Whittaker’s L&P chocolate is made with little popping candy like crystals that are coloured and flavoured as L&P. The crystals are mixed with very fine white chocolate made by Whittaker’s and shaped as ordinary chocolate but has an indent with the chocolate label Whittaker’s. They are king sized and can be brought from Count down and Pak’n Save for only 4:30.

Just one glimpse at the Whittaker’s L&P chocolate and it already caught my eye. The look of the white smooth chocolate and the shiny L&P sugar crystals shining through the chocolate like the sun on the blue ocean sea. One sniff and I could already smell the L&P flavour drifting up my nose making my mouth water like a baby that dribbles everyday. Peeling the wrapper off, I just couldn't wait to take a big bite. Breaking off a piece, just touching the chocolate I already knew that it was going to be good. A little tiny nibble and it felt as if a grenade of delightful tastes had just exploded in my mouth.

One thing that could have improved this chocolate was that there was more L&P flavour than the actual white chocolate. All you can taste is L&P with a pince of the chocolate it does still give flavour but not enough for me. I think that the L&P flavour took over the whole chocolate but it was still delicious. I think that this is the best chocolate yet for Whittaker’s.

Overall I think that this L&P Whittaker’s chocolate is fantastic. I would recommend this chocolate to any chocolate Whittaker’s lover, because it gives a good taste and you can tell even from not looking at the brand you can tell that it is a Whittaker’s chocolate.

Maths Problem Solving- Week 4

This week our problem solving has been around decimals. We had to get into partners or in three. We then answered the problems. I have found this week a little harder to get my hear around. I find that I am still working in whole numbers and get the answers wrong. What has been a help is thinking of decimals as money - dollars and cents.

Advice Blog- Fitness wristbands

WALT: Think critically about what we read.

This week in reading we have been learning about how to think critically about  what we read. In this task we had to write an advice blog to a person (James Abel) about choosing a wristband that would be good for him to choose for his fitness and his health. I also had to give him advice in how to make his own choices when buying another item. So here is my presentation about the advice I gave James Abel.

Becoming a bank teller

10/08/15
To whom it may concern,

(Bank teller)

Dear teachers,

The reason i’m applying for this job is because I can be a trustworthy person towards telling the truth. I'm also very good at adding and subtracting from out of your bank.

I want this job real bad because it would give me a good chance to learn more maths with adding and subtracting with decimals. I'm also very organised at working with others even with boys. So PICK ME!
PS: Just remember I did warn you and if you don’t well your making a big mistake.

Yours Sincerely,

Letter of reference ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My child vonne is a very trustworthy person she can be a very responsible person at times and she does really concentrate on her work. She can be trusted to be on time and to be available every day when needed.

I believe my daughter should be a bank teller because she can do very good at adding and subtracting Pts and pieces. She can also be trusted when told to do things. She has an awesome personality and she is never sassy.

Hiring beanbags

WALT: persuade the reader to agree with our message.

Don’t you just hate it when you have to sit on the cold hard uncomfortable floor. Well then why don’t you try hiring one of our relaxing bean bags.

During class while others are sitting on the hard floor you’ll be able to hire a comfortable bean bag. At only 3pt don’t you think it’s a great deal? and for the whole day even! You’ll be able lean on them, sit on them, sleep on them. How better do you think it’s going to get?

These bean bags are filled with soft mushy polystyrene beans and covered in a leather and rubber like skin. If you don’t like the shape of it then you can mould it to your positioned choice. You have many choices on what to decide you want to do with these particular bean bags. This type gives you options about what you can do to them. Other types are made to stay in one particular spot which can sometimes be uncomfortable.

The bean bags come in two different colours. A blue one like the colour of the beautiful vast sky and a green lime colour that looks like the green grass and plants on this planet. These are the only two colours that we have but it’s entirely up to you choice which one you want to sit on.

At only 3pt to hire a bean bag don’t you think our deals great. Once you have hired a bean bag you’ll have to pay at the beginning of the day and then you can use the beanbag for the rest of the day.

Remember for 3pt you can sit at a beanbag during class all day.

Furniture made from Kauri trees

WALT: put ourselves into the text.

This week for reading we are learning about timber and Kauri trees. We had to read a story and we had to imagine ourselves in the story and we also had to imagine ourselves selling the item in our story which for me was a piece of Kauri furniture.

We had to make a poster that would tell people about Kauri trees and about making furniture in a sustainable way. We had to find free to use images that showed people what they look like and what kind of furniture it is and what the quality was also. From time to times we had group discussion's to talk about timber and why its so valuble to this country and thats because it is a native plant. Hope you enjoy

Using a million dollars at the mall

WALT: write effective paragraphs using juicy and exiting words.

What if you had a million dollars to spend at the mall. Well I sure know that If I had a million dollars to spend at the mall that would be the best day of my life. I could buy whatever I wanted and I really do mean whatever which means to go travel around the world, bungy jumping, sky diving, iPhone, shoes, laptop clothes and even a car and maybe a whole store.

If I had a chance to choose a toy from Toy world it would be a Netball ball and a gigantic minion toy. They would definitely be my first choices because when I grow up I would like to be a Netball player so it would help me to practice. I would have a gigantic minion toy because I am a fan of minions and despicable me. I could just get the whole set of minion toys all to myself sleep with them, go shopping with them, eat with them too.

Foot locker is a store that sells shoes from brands that are very famous like Nike, Adidas, Puma and many more. If I had to choose to get something from foot locker it would be Nike sports shoes. I would store them all in my house on the wall, under my bed,on my bed, wouldn't that be marvellous. Just think if you had been saving up for a special shoe that you have wanted forever you could just get it maybe even two, three or four pairs how better does this get.

If I went shopping at JB Hifi with a million dollars well I wouldn't even know where to start. JB Hifi has lots of brands that sell electronics. For me I would probably go to the aisle where all the apple brands are. I would get a iPhone 6+,ipad mini, ipad, laptop and even a computer. There would be just too many things to choose from. I sure do know that I would go straight for the phones so that if I brought a phone I could just stay up all night playing games that would probably be my main reason for going to JB Hifi.

Buying all these things would be astonishing I mean like an iPhone 6+,brand new shoes how better does it get. However if I really had a million dollars I would lend some to the school to pay for some children camp because some families don’t have enough money to pay for their child's camp. I would also help my parents to pay the bills and the rent so that we don’t end up losing our house. That would be called being financially responsible.
